Learn Dutch with a Personal Touch!

About me

Hi, I’m Anouk van der Linde.

I’m a certified teacher of Dutch as a second language (NT2), and since 2011 I’ve had the pleasure of helping expats and internationals from all over the world learn Dutch and feel at home in the Netherlands.

Over the years, I’ve taught students preparing for the Dutch civic integration exam, as well as expats and international students at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. No two students are the same, and that’s one of the things I love most about my work. Every course brings new stories, different goals, and new opportunities to make learning Dutch practical, enjoyable, and rewarding.

My background in languages, teaching, and living abroad has shaped the way I teach today. After studying English Language and Literature at Leiden University, I worked as a language coordinator and manager before teaching English at secondary schools and in Ankara, Turkey. Living and working abroad gave me first-hand experience of adapting to a new culture and communicating in another language—an experience that helps me understand the challenges my students face today.

I founded Active Dutch because I wanted to offer something different from larger language schools: small groups, personal attention, and a supportive learning environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate and grow in confidence. My lessons combine practical language skills with insights into Dutch culture and everyday life, helping you not only learn the language but also feel more connected to the country around you.

I live in Alphen aan den Rijn, in the Green Heart of the Netherlands, with my husband, our two children, and our dog, George. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing golf, watching hockey and films, and walking George in the beautiful countryside around our home.

Whether you’re learning Dutch for work, daily life, or integration, I’ll be there to guide and encourage you every step of the way. I look forward to welcoming you to one of my courses!
